A team of health leaders and paramedics is engaged in permanent campaigns to inform and foster awareness and prevention of endemic diseases and of the most severe seasonal epidemics. Food and supplementary vitamin therapies are distributed to weaker patients and to those with serious food deficiencies. The medical program is also involved in the preservation and dissemination of traditional Indian medicine. The production of Ayurvedic medicines is done centrally, using local products that are then distributed to the sub-centers to be used by the final beneficiaries. The capacity building program includes, among other activities, the training of local people in the home preparation of the most commonly used Ayurvedic remedies.
